At this point, it is easy to look back and realize that Apple (AAPL) iOS 7 was and will continue to be a big hit. Regardless, iOS 8 is here, and many people are pondering their next move.

On Wednesday afternoon, Apple began to push the latest update to the world, and there’s a lot to like about it when compared to the previous version, including the ability to add widgets.
Despite the fact that early numbers are good, that adoption of iOS 8 has not been up to speed when compared to iOS 7 and iOS 6.
Share of North American iOS 8 web traffic went from 0% upon launch on Sept. 17 (obviously) to 7.3% by the next day. While that sounds impressive on the surface, it is nothing to write home about when you compare it to previous versions. iOS 6 adoption stood at 14.8% one day after launch with iOS 7 reaching 18.2% within 24 hours.
There could be a very good reason for this: iOS 7 was much different than its predecessor, meaning more people were excited about making the change.
While there is a lot to get excited about regarding iOS 8, it’s not a transformative update the same way iOS 7 was, which tends to lower the sense of urgency to adopt.
So for now, while adoption isn’t nearly what we saw with iOS 6 and 7, there’s not much to worry about concerning iOS 8.
